Congratulations from the Interfraternity Council to all of the new Associate Members who came out for this Spring’s Rush. Since the 17th of January, Spring Rush at the University of Florida has concluded. From this point onward, all of the new members of our University’s Greek System will be working towards their eventual initiation in their respective organizations. With 303 accepted bids, IFC has seen one of its most successful Spring Rushes to date. Some houses have even broken their previous Spring pledge class record in terms of initiates. Kason Green, the President of Phi Kappa Tau, states “This year we had one of the most successful Rushes in the history of our Fraternity for a Spring pledge class. We are very pleased with the results of recruitment and we look forward to initiating all our members.” The turnout of interested individuals in the Greek system has increased over the years as Rush continues to improve. Accepted bids among several Fraternities were Alpha Tau Omega with 17 associates, Chi Phi with 19, Phi Delta Theta with 14, Phi Kappa Tau with 20, Pi Kappa Phi with 20, and Sigma Chi with 13.
“Rushees” and members both understand the Interfraternity Council offers more than just letters and a name to the students of the University of Florida; it offers involvement opportunities, mentors, long lasting friendships, and a home. This in turn is increasing the participation of interested students. The president of Alpha Tau Omega, Brody Dawkins, expressed “We are very excited to welcome our largest Spring pledge class since 2009. The turnout from “Rushees” and overall interest in joining ATO was very encouraging. We take enormous pride in our rush process and are confident in the desired qualities our newest pledge class will add to the brotherhood.” All in all, the Spring ’14 rush ended strong and IFC is confident in the success of future Rushes to come.
