Pi Lam at the University of Florida is committed to raising the standard of what it is to be a fraternity man. We are looking for the best of the best to send our chapter in the right direction. In order to be an active member of Pi Lambda Phi FL Δ, members must hold a 2.8 GPA, be involved with at least two other student organizations on campus and complete 20 community service hours per semester, most of which are done through fraternity functions. We believe that through these standards our members will be able to achieve an optimal social experience while preparing themselves for the real world and giving back to the Gainesville community.
Some of the more famous alumni of the Pi Lambda Phi fraternity include Fred Levin, Sandy Koufax, Rafer Johnson, Leigh Steinberg, and Bud Selig. Mr Levin was an attorney involved in the recent litigation between the State of Florida and the tobacco companies. The University of Florida Law School has been named after him, one of three university buildings named after Pi Lams. Sandy Koufax, a baseball pitcher, is considered one of the greatest players of all time. Rafer Johnson, one of the best athletes of the century, won the Gold Medal for the decathlon in the Olympics. Leigh Steinberg is a famous sports agent. Bud Selig is the Commissioner of Baseball. Two United States Senators are Pi Lams, Herbert Kohl and Arlen Specter. Florida Delta boasts an alumni base of over 2000 alumni and brotherhood ties which extend beyond the undergraduate experience, truly living up to our motto, “Not four years, but a lifetime.”
